Tucker’s restaurant to open at Kent Green
KENT — Kent’s North End Restaurant has closed, but the space will not be empty for long. The owners of J.D. Tucker’s in Washington, Conn., have purchased the restaurant and are moving their business into the building in the Kent Green complex.
The new restaurant will be called Tucker’s and will feature twists on American fare.
Dave Tucker owns the restaurant with his business partner and girlfriend, Jenny Stahl.
He will also be the chef and plans to change the dining room menu weekly and feature local and seasonal ingredients.
The pub will serve traditional fare such as burgers, pizza and pulled pork sandwiches.
Stahl will run the front end of the business.
The look and ambience of the restaurant have been modified. Tucker and Stahl have brought in tables, chairs, dishes and glassware from their Washington restaurant.
They are currently waiting for the delivery of four flat-screen televisions for the pub room (“For the sports fanatics,” Tucker said).
The past few weeks have been busy as Tucker and Stahl have worked day and night to update the look of the restaurant.
“We’re giving it a facelift,” Tucker said.
The pair hopes to have Tucker’s open by the end of February.
“We’re just going to do what we did in Washington — put out a good product at a fair price,” Tucker said.
Explaining the move to Kent, he said the rent for the Washington restaurant had become unmanageable.
“We moved here because of the economics of it. The rent is more affordable, and demographically, it’s better,” he said.
