Still no decision on town manager

WINSTED — The search for a new town manager is still on. During the Board of Selectmen’s regular meeting at Town Hall on Monday, Nov. 15, the board met in executive session for 40 minutes to discuss candidates for the position.

However, after coming out of executive session, Mayor Candy Perez said that the board still needs more time for a decision.

“We will not be taking any action at this time, Perez said. “We are narrowing the field of candidates. The search committee will be making some phone calls tomorrow and will be setting up more in-depth candidate interviews.

In an interview after the meeting, Perez said the search committee interviewed eight candidates by phone, and the board narrowed the candidate pool down to five candidates.

The selectmen are looking for a replacement for former Town Manager Wayne Dove, who announced his resignation in August and served his last day on Oct. 29.

Earlier this month, voters approved a town charter revision that dropped the requirement for the town manager to live within the town’s borders.

Magic Fluke Ukulele Shop and True Wheels Bicycle Shop are not only under the same roof in a beautiful solar powered building on Route 7 in Sheffield, but they are also both run by the Webb family, telling a tale of familial passion, innovation and a steadfast commitment to sustainability.

In the late ‘90s, Dale Webb was working in engineering and product design at a corporate job. “I took up instrument manufacturing as a fun challenge,” said Dale. After an exhibit at The National Association of Music Merchants in Anaheim, California, in 1999, The Magic Fluke company was born. “We were casting finger boards and gluing these things together in our basement in New Hartford and it just took off,” Dale explained. “It was really a wild ride, it kind of had a life of its own.”
