SHARON — Hoping to spur some progress on slowing vehicle speeds along Hilltop Road, property owners there asked the Board of Selectmen for a definite plan at their regular meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 28.

SHARON — Members of the Sharon Hospital medical community were told on Wednesday morning, Sept. 29, about Nuvance’s plans for the hospital’s future — including the closing of the labor and delivery unit, and reductions in surgical services and critical care. The medical community first heard the plan only hours before the general public.
SHARON — Sharon Hospital and Nuvance Health announced during an online Community Forum on Wednesday, Sept. 29, that the hospital will be closing its labor and delivery unit, pending regulatory approval, within eight to 12 months.

SHARON — As a reminder to residents that it is time to complete applications for winter heating assistance, the town held a combination fuel assistance and free distribution event for food and school supplies at the town garage on Saturday, Aug. 28.
SHARON — At first doubting the validity of correspondence received from Wells Fargo Bank notifying the town of Sharon of the closing of the Silly Putty Charitable Trust, town Treasurer Tina Pitcher nevertheless followed up on the notice, reporting to the selectmen at their meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 24, that it was all real.
SHARON — An application to preserve 81 acres of land on Millerton Road took a step ahead as the Board of Selectmen agreed at their meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 24, to write a letter of support for an Open Space Grant available through the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.
