SHARON — After two and a half years of study and meetings, a solar energy project adjacent to Sharon Center School was approved by voters at a town meeting on Thursday, Aug. 18.

Dutch elm disease claimed a 150- to 200-year old elm tree at the town Green across from Sharon Town Hall. A state crew removed it on Friday, Aug. 12. It was one of nine located on the Green, but recent storms, other ailments, and Dutch elm disease have left only three.
The Sharon Connect Internet Task Force (SCITF) held a hybrid forum on Monday, Aug. 15. for residents to hear Comcast’s proposal for a public-private partnership to extend broadband service to every home and business in Sharon.
SHARON — Facing the glassy surface of Mudge Pond, more than 80 people, wearing wet suits, goggles and swim caps, stood eagerly on the water’s edge. In a few moments they heard “swimmers begin,” and with it, the Sharon Sprint Triathlon kicked off for the 15th time on Saturday, Aug. 13.
SHARON — Artisans from the Northwest Corner and beyond set up shop at the Sharon Green on Saturday, Aug. 6, for the Sharon Arts and Crafts fair. It was the 63rd year of the event.
Creativity and craftsmanship were on full display within the tents that lined the Green along Main Street.

SHARON — Following a two-year pandemic break, the Sharon Summer Book Signing drew authors and book lovers to benefit the landmark Hotchkiss Library of Sharon and enjoy each other’s company.
SHARON — Christina McCulloch, the new president of Sharon Hospital, said that the hospital’s parent company, Nuvance Health, is going ahead with its plans to close the Labor and Delivery unit and consolidate two critical care units into one.
SHARON — Sharon Hospital, part of Nuvance Health, has been awarded a five-star rating — the highest overall — by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) for quality patient care.
SHARON — For now the little bus is a dull green all over, but only because it is newly acquired as part of a project recommended by the committee that receives applications for American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding.
