LAKEVILLE — David Valcin, accompanied by sons Dominick and Vincent, arrived at St. Mary Catholic Church in Lakeville a little before noon on Monday, April 6, to ring the church bell.

You gotta have heart(s)

SALISBURY — Megan Conklin, a first-grade teacher at Salisbury Central School (SCS), announced to students from my school on March 24 that all Region One School District students should put hearts in their homes, windows, mailboxes, and even inside their cars to show unity. It was an idea suggested by Region One Superintendent Pam Vogel.

At LaBonne’s market: Temperatures, masks and an abundance of caution

SALISBURY — LaBonne’s market in Salisbury almost certainly has the strictest protocols for social distancing during the COVID-19 quarantine. A week ago, the store began to require all customers take a temperature test before entering the store.

How kids are coping while in isolation — and their parents, too

SALISBURY — When I asked Gwen Fitch, a fourth grader at Salisbury Central School (SCS), if she likes the whole situation of being at home she replied, “It’s just that the classroom is a nice place to work!”

No news is good news

SALISBURY — First Selectman Curtis Rand had nothing new to report about the COVID-19 crisis on Monday morning, March 30.

He urged residents to follow the state and federal guidelines on staying home and only going out on essential trips and errands.
