Selectmen go ahead with train station study

SALISBURY — At a special meeting Wednesday, Sept 21, the Salisbury Board of Selectmen considered had two offers from firms to study the structural integrity of the former train station in Lakeville, one for $12,000 and one for $20,000.

The selectmen decided to pursue the $20,000 contract with Crosskey Architects. The contract will be paid for with a grant from the State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO).

The selectmen have also received a detailed report on the paint used on the building, and plan to repaint it to its original colors.

Other ideas under consideration include: a new foundation, moving the building slightly to make room for delivery trucks and raising the building about a foot.
