The COVID-19 crisis and cancellation of in-person meetings is occurring as towns and school boards prepare their budgets for the 2020-21 fiscal year.
The towns are posting budget proposals on their websites and doing their best to host online meetings.
An unprecedented amount of state and federal financial assistance is within reach for Connecticut businesses and nonprofits crippled by the public safety measures put in place during the COVID-19 pandemic.
HARLEM VALLEY — Town and Village Halls around the region are shut down as officials deal with COVID-19. Officials are making arrangements so residents can stay in touch with the local departments while limiting their exposure to coronavirus.

DUTCHESS COUNTY — Keeping on top of all updates related to the coronavirus pandemic and county plans to combat the outbreak, Dutchess County residents tuned into the live Telephone Town Hall hosted by Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro on Wednesday, March 18.
Governor Andrew Cuomo’s New York State on PAUSE regulations mandate that 100% of the workforce must stay home, excluding essential services (for more read this week’s front page). All non-essential gatherings of individuals of any size for any reason are temporarily banned.

DUTCHESS COUNTY — “I was on the phone with County Executive Marc Molinaro earlier this afternoon, and he confirmed what had been rumored, which is that cases of COVID-19 coronavirus have been identified in every municipality in Dutchess County, including ours,” emailed North East town Supervisor Chris Kennan Tuesday morning, March 24.
HARLEM VALLEY — The future of the region’s economy is shaky at best these days, in light of the coronavirus pandemic that has shut down much of the state.
HARLEM VALLEY — Even though schools across the state have closed due to the coronavirus pandemic, school districts remain responsible for getting educational materials to students — any way they can. But what about feeding students who rely on school breakfasts and lunches for sustenance?
Health insurance for the uninsured is available again, with sign-ups at Access Health CT from March 19 to April 2.
The special enrollment period is being offered because of concerns that COVID-19 will continue to spread.

LIME ROCK — Last Sunday, March 15, Trinity Lime Rock Episcopal Church was closed for worship because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Undaunted, the Rev. Heidi Truax and a small group of people from the congregation held a service and streamed it live on the Trinity Lime Rock Facebook page.
