BOE bids farewell to Martin Handler after nine years

PINE PLAINS — Beyond the acclamations offered for his journey north to Oneida County, both Pine Plains Superintendent of Schools Martin Handler and the Pine Plains Board of Education (BOE) felt the sadness accompanying Handler’s retirement from the Pine Plains Central School District (CSD) at Handler’s last BOE meeting on Wednesday, June 15.

Skylee Eiffert, Lourdes Belanger lead Pine Plains graduates of 2022

PINE PLAINS — With promising futures ahead of them, Pine Plains seniors Skylee Eiffert, 18, and Lourdes Belanger, 18, will soon be leading this year’s graduating class at Stissing Mountain Junior/Senior High School as valedictorian and salutatorian, respectively.

Stoner’s Roadside sells fresh franks

PINE PLAINS — With sunnier days in the forecast and baseball season in full swing, residents from around the region can satisfy their hankerings for a hot dog at Stoner’s Roadside Foods Hot Dog Stand located at 2901 West Church St. in Pine Plains.

Stissing Mountain senior joins county’s Ag Advisory Board

PINE PLAINS — In celebrating the county’s rich agricultural identity, Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro announced the appointment of the Dutchess County Agricultural Advisory Committee’s  (AAC) first two youth leadership members at its annual Agriculture Breakfast this spring.

Stanfordville couple’s fundraiser for Ukraine draws strong support

PINE PLAINS — Motivated by an inspirational mix of food, music, speeches and generosity, area residents seemed more than happy to attend the Ukraine Emergency Fundraiser in support of Sunflower of Peace at The Stissing Center in Pine Plains on Sunday, June 5.

Pine Plains honors its vets: Paying tribute on Memorial Day

PINE PLAINS — As is the annual tradition, many members of the Pine Plains community came out to honor those who gave their lives in defense of this nation on Monday, May 30. The Shekomeko American Legion Post #426 and the Pine Plains VFW Post #5519 once again joined forces to organize the town’s annual Memorial Day parade and ceremony.
