Pantry supports community in multiple ways

PINE PLAINS —  The love story that is Willow Roots in Pine Plains began decades ago when two teenagers, Lisa and Nelson Zayas, met and worked together at Nathan’s on 86th Street in Brooklyn.  After dating for a short time, the two moved on to marriages to others, each lasting 21 years.

Pine Plains Free Library seeks board members

PINE PLAINS — A search for two new members for the board of trustees of of the Pine Plains Free Library is providing what head librarian Alexis Tackett describes as an opportunity to “get involved with the community as an active, volunteer member in an organization that is focused on diversity, equity and inclusion, which is a really great topic

Pine Plains residents pose concerns about proposed solar farm

PINE PLAINS – Residents showed up in numbers on Saturday, Jan. 21, at the Community Room of the Pine Plains Free Library to state concerns and their largely overwhelming opposition to a proposed 10-megawatt community solar project at Pulver’s Corners.

Baking something new and heavenly in Pine Plains

PINE PLAINS — When a town needs a bakery and a baker needs a town, if they find each other, that could be called heavenly. In fact, that’s exactly what it is, and the new bakery in the town of Pine Plains is called something very close to that: Heaven’s Light Bakery and Café, featuring International Delights.

Holiday ceremony honors veterans

PINE PLAINS — Wreaths were placed on the graves of 517 veterans on Saturday, Dec. 17, at Evergreen Cemetery in Pine Plains as part of the National Wreaths Across America Day.

Schaghticoke forum draws interest in regional history

PINE PLAINS — The Schaghticoke First Nations (SFN) Roundtable at Pine Plains Free Library on Saturday, Dec. 3 brought up a wealth of genealogical information, current projects, dreams for going forward, and a host of questions from the audience that reflect the complexities of this moment in our nation’s history.
