Wilhelm H. Ziemann
NORTH CANAAN — Wilhelm H. Ziemann peacefully passed on April 8, 2020, at Geer Village.
Born on May 1, 1928, in Jud, N.D., he was the son of Anna (Schoeber) and Erich Ziemann. He served in the U.S. Army in Frankfurt, Germany, during the Korean War. There he married Ursula Seckler on May 3, 1950, and he brought his bride to Fort Riley in Kansas in October 1952.
Upon discharge from the Army, they settled in Levittown, N.Y., and then moved to East Hartford, Conn., where he was employed by Veeder-Root as a production manager. Their next stop was Avon, Conn., where they resided for 20 years.
Retirement in 1991 took him to The Villages in Florida, where he was able to take full advantage of his passion for bridge as a Life Master. He was one of the very best. He always played to win and usually did. He moved to Geer Village in October 2017.
He is survived by his daughter, Linda Robertson and her husband, John Robertson, of Salisbury; two grandchildren, Sarah Whittaker and her husband, Marc Whittaker, of Kennebunk, Maine, and Ian Robertson of Humble, Texas. He was also the great-grandfather to William and Lily Whittaker of Kennebunk.
He was predeceased by his wife, Ursula Seckler.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. All other services are private. The Kenny Funeral Home in Sharon is in charge of arrangements.
