DOVER PLAINS — Genevieve E. Cade, 93, a resident of Dover Plains and formerly of Millerton, passed away on Saturday, July 10, 2021 at Sharon Health Care Center. 

Mrs. Cade was a therapy aide at the Harlem Valley Psychiatric Center in Wingdale, N.Y., for 35 years, retiring in 1982. 

Born on Nov. 20, 1927, in Valhalla, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Elsie (Callies) and Harvey Warner. 

On Sept. 9, 1952, in Millerton, she married Ellwood Cade, who predeceased her in 2009. 

Mrs. Cade was a member of the Town of Dover Senior Citizens and Dover Senior Bowling League. 

Mrs. Cade is survived by a son, Barry Cade and his wife, Susan, of Poughkeepsie; four daughters, Gloria Villano and her husband, Michael, of Seminal, Fla., Elizabeth Garrow of Plattsburgh, Donna Christiansen and her husband, Mark, of Dover Plains and Roxanne Cade of Poughkeepsie; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Cade was predeceased by a sister, Beatrice; and a son-in-law, Lenny Garrow. 

Graveside services and burial at Saratoga National Cemetery will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to Dutchess County SPCA, 636 Violet Ave., Hyde Park, NY 12538.

Magic Fluke Ukulele Shop and True Wheels Bicycle Shop are not only under the same roof in a beautiful solar powered building on Route 7 in Sheffield, but they are also both run by the Webb family, telling a tale of familial passion, innovation and a steadfast commitment to sustainability.

In the late ‘90s, Dale Webb was working in engineering and product design at a corporate job. “I took up instrument manufacturing as a fun challenge,” said Dale. After an exhibit at The National Association of Music Merchants in Anaheim, California, in 1999, The Magic Fluke company was born. “We were casting finger boards and gluing these things together in our basement in New Hartford and it just took off,” Dale explained. “It was really a wild ride, it kind of had a life of its own.”

Cabaret comes to St. Andrew's in Kent

Music in the Nave will again tap into local talent April 6 at 7 p.m. when its features George Potts in an intimate cabaret concert in the St. Andrew’s Church parish house.

Pott is a well-known figure in the community, both through his presence in the perennially popular Fife ‘n Drum, the restaurant started by his father-in-law, renowned pianist Dolph Trayman, and through his own career as a folk musician.
