Elizabeth G. (Garfield) Currier
NORTH CANAAN — Elizabeth G. (Garfield) Currier, 86, died Sept. 27, 2020, at the Geer Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was the widow of Carl Currier.
Elizabeth was born Sept. 3, 1934, in Norfolk, daughter of the late Katherine (McCormick) and James Garfield Sr.
Elizabeth was the co-owner and secretary of Dickinson Express for many years.
She was a communicant of St. Martin of Tours Parish St. Joseph’s Church, a member of the Daughters of Isabella of St. Joseph’s Church, and a longtime active volunteer of the Fishes and Loaves Food Pantry in North Canaan.
Elizabeth is survived by her three sons, Jeff Currier of Stockbridge, Mass., Joe Currier of North Canaan and Pat Currier of Enfield, Conn.; and five grandsons, Nick, Chris, Brandon, Duncan and Kyle.
Elizabeth was predeceased by her son, Peter; her sisters, Florence Hunter, Marjorie Deloy and Shirley Deloy; and her brothers, James “Jay” Garfield Jr., Francis “Frank” Garfield, Dwayne Garfield and Robert “Bob” Garfield.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, Oct. 1, in St. Joseph’s Cemetery on Cemetery Road in North Canaan at 1 p.m. Calling hours will be held in the Newkirk-Palmer Funeral Home in North Canaan from 11 a.m. until 12:45 p.m.
