Robert ‘Bob’ Shnayerson

HILLSDALE — Robert “Bob” Shnayerson, highly admired editor at Life and Time in the glory days of Henry Luce’s magazine empire, as well as editor-in-chief of Harper’s magazine and founder of Quest magazine, died on March 6, 2022, at age 96 at his home in Hillsdale, N.Y., with his family by his side.

Jamie Alan Surdam

SALISBURY — Jamie Alan Surdam, 56, passed away peacefully on Feb. 17, 2022, at Hartford Hospital.

He was born April 30, 1965, in Sharon, to the late Norma (Parsons) Surdam and Richard A. Surdam.

Jamie was predeceased by two sisters, Rosella and Bernice Surdam.

Mary Peterson Adams

SHARON — Mary Peterson Adams, 96, of Hidden Lane, died March 6, 2022, at Geer Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in North Canaan. She was the widow of Walter Peterson and Howard Adams.

Mary was born Jan.12, 1926, in Sharon, the daughter of the late Mary (Murphy) and William Pitcher.

Jay Michael Haft

SALISBURY — Jay Michael Haft of New York, son of Helen and Jack Haft, passed away on Feb. 7, 2022, at the age of 86. The world has lost a great husband, father, grandfather and leader.

Laura Katrina Keefe

LAKEVILLE — On Oct. 3, 2021, Laura Katrina Keefe, beloved daughter to Terri Lee Young and Francis Edward Keefe and beloved sister to Gerald Francis Keefe and Judith Johanna Frost, passed away at the age of 51.

Ann (Watkins) Schopp

NORTH CANAAN — Beverly Ann (Watkins)Schopp, 87, of Claverack, N.Y., and North Canaan, passed away March 1, 2022, in the comfort of her home in North Canaan.

Born in Brooklyn on Oct. 28, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Vincent Benjamin and Gertrude Charles Watkins.

Lois C. Bailey

MILLERTON — Lois C. Bailey, 67, a 39-year resident of Millerton, died peacefully on Wednesday, March 2, 2022, at Vassar Bros. Medical Center in Poughkeepsie.

Lois worked as a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service out of the Dover Plains Post Office for 33 years prior to her retirement in 2010.

Jim Charlton

LAKEVILLE — Jim Charlton of New York City and Lakeville died on Feb. 13, 2022, from complications of the seasonal flu. He was 82.  A longtime fixture in the West Village, he liked to say he lived only a few blocks from where he was born: St. Vincent’s Hospital in 1939.
