Mary S. Fitzgerald

WASSAIC — Mary S. Fitzgerald, 60, of Bradenton, Fla., formerly of Wassaic, lost her battle with cancer and passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Jan. 27, 2021. 

She was born on Feb. 27, 1960, in Sharon, to Edna Mae (Kruger) and Richard Miller. She graduated from Webutuck Central School in Amenia. 

Bonnie Aakjar

SHARON — Bonnie Aakjar 72, passed away peacefully at her home with her family at her side, after a hard-fought year-long battle with lung cancer.

Bonnie was born Sept. 30, 1948, in Sharon to the late Dorothy Mae Bejean Booth and the late Dellavergne Booth. She graduated from Housatonic Valley Regional High School, Class of 1966.

I was never Ed’s science student nor his baseball player, but Ed Kirby was my principal when I taught at HVRHS and a fine one, among the very best. Always fair and considerate, Ed was a good listener and a thoughtful dispenser of sound advice. 

Edward M. Kirby

SHARON—A long and multi-layered life came to an end Monday, Feb. 1, 2021, with the death of Edward M. Kirby, 93, a lifelong resident of Sharon and communicant of St. Bernard’s Church. Kirby was born Aug. 26, 1927, the son of Kathleen and Edward J. Kirby.

Katy Marie Sherwood

NORTH CANAAN — Katy Marie Sherwood was born on May 4, 1984, in Pittsfield, Mass. After fighting a courageous battle with lung cancer, she passed away at home peacefully on Jan. 31, 2021, surrounded by her loved ones. 

Thomas F. Mullen

EAST CANAAN — Thomas F. Mullen, 66, of East Canaan, passed away Jan. 23, 2021, at the Berkshire Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.  

He was born April 27, 1954, to the late Evelyn (Welch) and John F. Mullen.

Judith A. O’Malley

MILLERTON — Judith A. O’Malley, 86, a 32-year area resident, died Jan. 25, 2021, at Noble Horizons in Salisbury. 

Mrs. O’Malley worked as a dorm and recreation aide for Maplebrook School in Amenia for many years prior to her retirement.

Kathryn ‘Kay’ Garzetta

MILLERTON — Kathryn “Kay” Garzetta, 100, a 20-year resident and formerly of Staten Island, passed away Jan. 30, 2021, at Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., following a brief illness. 

She was a resident of The Pines in Poughkeepsie.
