SALISBURY — Barbara (Elliott) Niles, 82, died peacefully at home on Feb. 11, 2021, with her family at her side. She grew up in Needham and Osterville, Mass., and lived in Berkeley, Calif., and Washington, D.C., before settling in New York City with her lawyer husband. They found their weekend place in Salisbury in 1971.

MILLERTON — Shirley Rebecca (Abrahamson) Shoifet died peacefully on Feb. 13, 2021, at the age of 94 in Houston, Texas, where she lived for the last decade of her life.  

ASHLEY FALLS — James Robert Boltrom, 75, died Jan. 13, 2021, with his wife, Dorene (Crocco) Boltrom, in a fire at their home in Ashley Falls, Mass.

Mr. Boltrom was born Jan. 1, 1946, in New Milford, Conn., and was a graduate of New Milford High School, Class of 1963. He married his wife on Christmas Eve 1996.

NORTH CANAAN — Christine (Parzick) Garfield, 87, formerly of High Street, died Feb. 12, 2021, at the Geer Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was the widow of Robert W. Garfield. Christine and Bob were married on Nov. 8, 1952.

SALISBURY — Ronald David Jones, 91, of Salisbury died at his home on Feb. 10, 2021, surrounded by his loving family. 

He was born on Jan. 2, 1930, and grew up in Oneida, N.Y.  He attended Yale University and graduated in 1951 during the midst of the Korean War. 

MILLERTON — Dorothy “Dot” Bates, 92, a long-time area resident, died peacefully in the comfort of her home on Friday, Feb. 5, 2021.  

Born in New Milford, Conn., in 1928, she was the daughter of the late Sophie (Wegloski) and Wesley Traver. Her father referred to her as his “favorite son” as they enjoyed many adventures together. 

PINE PLAINS — Robert “Bob” Cahill, 89, passed away at Northern Dutchess Hospital after a brief illness. 

SHARON — Joshua Wilkinson, 41, of Sharon Valley Road died Feb. 9, 2021, at Sharon Hospital. He was the husband of Tanya Wallace Wilkinson.

Joshua was born in Torrington on July 5, 1979, the son of Richard Kearns Jr. and Linda Palmer.
