NORTH CANAAN — Having recently heard a presentation from a downtown development organization, the Board of Selectmen discussed community advancement during its regular meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 1, and decided to refer the organization’s proposal to the Economic Development Commission (EDC).

NORTH CANAAN — During a brief town meeting on Monday, Oct. 24, residents voted to adopt a new ordinance prohibiting the attracting and feeding of black bears. All but one of the residents at the meeting voted to enact.
Brian Allyn was elected to serve as moderator for the town meeting.

NORTH CANAAN —One of the latest examples of revitalization on Railroad Street in North Canaan comes in a tumbler with a straw.
Nutrition on Railroad, a business started in May of 2021 during the pandemic, has become a steady favorite.

NORTH CANAAN — Residents will get to vote on an ordinance prohibiting the feeding of bears at a town meeting set for Monday, Oct. 24, at 7 p.m. at Town Hall.
The date for the vote was set by the Board of Selectmen at its regular meeting on Monday, Oct. 3.

NORTH CANAAN — The Canaan Union Railroad Station has welcomed a new resident within the last year: the New England Accordion Connection and Museum. The museum has over 500 accordions, each with a unique story.

NORTH CANAAN —Mike Mangini recalled visiting rural North Canaan in 1997 to apply for a position as a physical therapist at the Geer Village nursing home. Having served as a physical therapist for the then-Washington Redskins from 1990 to 1995, he was pumped for a new challenge.
