A short distance away from Northwest Auto, across Railroad Street, we come across the newest business in town, ILSE Coffee. ILSE is a company that has been based in Stamford, Conn. Originally, they were primarily wholesale coffee roasters that shipped beans to cafes around the world.

Starting on Route 7 South and coming into North Canaan you’ll encounter Picante’s, Crane’s Power Equipment, and the Caddie Shack. As we cross the train tracks and pass the first few buildings of North Canaan we come across Northwest Auto on the left. A large garage directly on the side of the road I’d say impossible to miss.
“Beauty is in the eye of the beholder” is a phrase that has, for a long time, been very capable of describing North Canaan. It wasn’t always like that. Long ago, North Canaan was the pseudo-capital of the Region One area, all that was happening was happening here.
NORTH CANAAN — North Canaan’s Board of Finance presented the town’s 2023-24 spending proposals at a public hearing at Town Hall on April 19. Finance chair Nancy O’Connor led the meeting to review changes and field questions.

NORTH CANAAN — Eighth grader Addie Diorio was named North Canaan Elementary School’s (NCES) 2023 winner of the Litchfield County Superintendents Award. Diorio said she was surprised to win but pleased be given the award.
“I’m glad I got it. It’s pretty special,” said Diorio.

NORTH CANAAN — The future of cannabis sales in North Canaan will be decided by voters this coming November. During the regular monthly selectmen’s meeting on April 5, the board approved a motion to send the fate of recreational marijuana sales in town to the ballot box.
