NORTH CANAAN — Voters approved both the municipal and the education budgets as recommended by the Board of Finance at a town meeting on Wednesday, June 1.

NORTH CANAAN – Arnold ‘Arnie’ Agar had $24 in his pocket in 1975 when he started his own auto repair business at the intersection of Rts. 7 and 44 in what was an ARCO service station.

NORTH CANAAN — North Canaan celebrated Memorial Day on Monday, May 30, with a parade and speeches under the Doughboy Monument in the center of town, under sunny skies and flanked by children, parents, grandparents and veterans.
NORTH CANAAN — After public comments at a budget hearing hearing on Wednesday, May 11, the Board of Finance unanimously agreed to move the proposed 2022-23 town and school budgets to a vote at a town meeting.
The Board of Selectmen will set the date for the town meeting.

NORTH CANAAN — The Northwest Connecticut Rod and Gun Club drew 52 young anglers to its annual Junior Fishing Derby on Sunday, May 15, at the club’s pond.
The water’s edge was lined with patient young trophy seekers hoping to win a new bicycle or other prizes for the biggest fish caught in three age groups.

NORTH CANAAN —By unanimous vote at their meeting on Wednesday, April 13, the Board of Finance withheld approval of the 2022-23 budget proposed by the Board of Selectmen, instead returning it for spending reduction.
