Railroad Days 2022: A community celebration

NORTH CANAAN — Railroad Days 2022 in North Canaan generated big community spirit starting on Wednesday, July 13 and ending with a penultimate bang on Saturday night as fireworks lit up the sky. On  Sunday,  it was time for a road race and lobster tails from a food truck.

Local civil rights lawyer won crucial women’s rights case in the 60s

NORTH CANAAN — Catherine Roraback must be spinning in her grave.

The fiery civil rights lawyer, who made Canaan her home, fought for women’s rights throughout her long life and in 1965 argued Griswold v. Connecticut all the way to the Supreme Court, thus establishing women’s right to use contraceptives.

Dunking the trooper!

NORTH CANAAN — The skies threatened with dark clouds in the minutes before the North Canaan Elementary School eighth graders began their procession to a graduation ceremony on Wednesday, June 15.
