Connecticut State Police Troop B
The following information was provided by the Connecticut State Police at Troop B. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Driving on shoulder George Rannenberg, 57, of Barkhamsted was driving west on Route 44 in North Canaan March 4. At about 11:32 a.m., he approached the intersection of North Elm Street. He attempted to pass on the right shoulder a car stopped at the light and driven by Annette Bachetti, 55, of Winsted. Bachetti attempted to turn right onto North Elm Street. Her 2008 Ford Fusion collided with Rannenberg’s 2008 Subaru Impreza. There were no injuries. No enforcement was noted. Construction site damaged Police are investigating an incident at a construction site in Sharon that included about $30,000 in property damage. The vandalism occurred between March 4 and 5 at 354 Calkinstown Road. Anyone with information should call Trooper Green at 860-824-2500. Rear-end crash Aimee Lamere, 30, of North Canaan was driving east on Route 44 in North Canaan March 7. At about 5:31 p.m., at the intersection of North Elm Street, her 2005 Toyota 4Runner hit the rear of a 2007 Plymouth Voyager driven by Festim Ajro, 17, of Torrington. Both vehicles had minor damage. Ajro was taken to Sharon Hospital with neck pain. Lamere and passenger Brionna Lamere, 10, of the same address were not injured. Lamere was charged with following too closely. Counterfeit bill passed Police are investigating an incident in which a counterfeit $20 bill was passed during a March 7 transaction at Dunkin’ Donuts in North Canaan. Evading driver An unknown driver of a blue pickup truck is sought following a March 9 hit and run on Route 44 in Salisbury. Jenny Duarte, 33, of Ghent, N.Y., was driving near Holley Street at about 2:16 p.m. when her 2000 Pontiac Grand Am was hit on the rear driver’s side. There were no injuries to the driver or passengers Alexis Duarte, 11 months, of the same address, and Cynthia Scutt, 52, and Jessica Shackelton, 34, of the same Hillsdale, N.Y., address. The truck is possibly a Chevrolet S10. Anyone with information should call Trooper Fedigan at 860-824-2500. Motor vehicle violations Duke Echols, 31, of South Kent was stopped by police on West Main Street in North Canaan at 3:41 p.m. on March 9. He was charged with operating an unregistered motor vehicle, failure to have minimum insurance coverage and operating a motor vehicle without a license. Bond was set at $2,500. He is to appear in Bantam Superior Court March 26. iPod stolen An iPod was reported stolen at The Last Post animal shelter on Route 126 in Falls Village, per a March 10 complaint by Christina Gavitt, North Canaan.Burglary investigated Police responded at 4:51 a.m. March 10 to 22 Church St./ Route 44 in North Canaan for a report of a possible burglary. The complainant is Michael Murphy. The incident is thought to have occurred between 3:30 p.m. March 9 and 4:15 a.m. March 10. Anyone with information should call Trooper Hazen at 860-824-2500.
