Barbara Jane (Sandmeyer) Osolin
KENT — Barbara Jane (Sandmeyer) Osolin, 84, passed away peacefully on Feb. 12, 2012, at her home in Kent. She was the wife of the late Ramon “Sonny” Osolin. Barbara was born Dec. 19, 1928, in Cornwall, the daughter of the late Lillian “Cora” and Charles Sandmeyer.She spent her early years walking the Popple Swamp Road to elementary school in Cornwall Village. She later graduated from Housatonic Valley Regional High School. She and her husband lived on the family farm in Sharon Valley and had three children. The family moved to Kent in 1963, where Barbara retired from the H. Maimin company. Her fondness for playing cards, knitting, bird-watching and making her famous lemonade cake were some of her joys in life. Her great sense of humor and keen New England wit will be missed by all.She is survived by her two sons, Randy Osolin and his wife, Karen, who reside in Sharon and Bruce Osolin of Goshen; and two grandsons, Kyle and Andrew Osolin of Glastonbury. She was predeceased by a daughter, Gail Leo Osolin; her sisters, Pauline Cudlipp, Kathryn Waller and Dorothy Budnick; and a brother, Ralph W. Sandmeyer.A graveside service will be celebrated at Ellsworth Cemetery in the spring.Memorial contributions may be made to Kent Kats, PO Box 916, Kent, CT 06757.
