Emily Ellsworth (Jennings) Hollman
SALISBURY — Emily Ellsworth (Jennings) Hollman, 86, affectionately known as “Em,” beloved wife of the late Rev. Elward D. Hollman, died Jan. 16, 2012, at Noble Horizons, which had been her home since 1998. She had previously lived in Windsor and Avon. She was born in Findlay, Ohio, the daughter of the late Dorothy (Robertson) and Lloyd Jennings. She graduated from Northfield Mount Hermon school in Mount Hermon, Mass., attended Emerson College in Boston, Mass., received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Connecticut and her master’s from Syracuse University. Em married Elward D. “Ozzie” Hollman in 1949, while he was in seminary after serving in World War II. They moved to Windsor in 1953, where as an ordained Episcopal priest he served as rector of Grace Episcopal Church from 1953 to the late 1970s. There they raised their family and Em was employed at CIGNA for 18 years, serving as one of the first female officers, retiring as assistant director of development. She also was editor of CIGNA’s corporate newspaper for several years. She was a past director of the former Windsor Bank & Trust Company. Em is survived by her daughter, Sarah H. Jennings and her husband, Gregory Dixon, of Los Angeles, Calif.; three grandchildren, Blair E. Ackerman and her husband, Krys, of North Canaan, Emily Beach and her husband, Daniel, of Wheelersburg, Ohio, and Foster Ellsworth Dixson of Los Angeles, Calif.; and three great-grandchildren, Anna and Sophia Beach and Krystin Ackerman. In addition to her beloved husband, she was predeceased by her daughter, Patricia McClanahan in 2003; and her sister, Patricia Hitchcock. A memorial service will be held in the spring, at a date and time to be announced. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery in Waterbury.
