South Kent dominates Hotchkiss on the court
SOUTH KENT — The South Kent Cardinals basketball team bested the Hotchkiss Bearcats 105-72 on Jan. 11 in the Joseph Brown gymnasium on the South Kent campus.Coach Kelvin Jefferson’s Cardinals have started strong in the new year, notching their third win in a row to bump their overall record to 8-4. Fred Benjamin’s young Bearcat team has lost a lot of close games and, despite their talent, now stand at 1-8 on the year.South Kent star Ricardo Ledo, who heads to Providence College next year, was the high scorer with 35 points. Forward Chris Ortiz, heading to Kent State, was dominant in the paint for South Kent, scoring 26 points and grabbing 15 rebounds. Point guard Leron Fisher had a solid game with eight points, seven assists and six steals.Senior Clyde Smith, heading to TCU, was the high scorer for Hotchkiss with 30 points.
