Everyone is a winner at the fundraising hoops game
KENT — Kent Center School’s eighth annual mother-daughter basketball game was held Jan. 13 to raise money for the Jane Lloyd Fund, which aids Northwest Corner cancer patients to pay living expenses while fighting the disease. As they did last year, the student/daughters beat their mothers. This year, the score was 39 to 26.Leading scorers for the daughters were Lily Steigleman, with eight points; Maddie Sheldon and Maddie Horosky with six each; and Sarah Coolbeth and Lily Bournival with four each. For the moms: Cathy You had eight points and Jackie Steigleman and Tammy Hoefer had four points each. While there was spirited competition between the generations, it was all in good fun for a common goal.As part of the fundraiser, seventh-grade student Hazel Garrity coordinated a bake sale featuring all kinds of cookies, brownies and cakes. This was Hazel’s fifth year as coordinator. She is training two younger students to take over that responsibility when she graduates next year. Before the basketball game, student Cassy Worthington sung “In My Daughter’s Eyes,” accompanied by Jacob Horowitz. The Jane Lloyd Fund is managed by the Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation.
