Richard Charles Waldron
SALISBURY — Richard Charles Waldron, 67, of Sarum Village on Cobble Road, died unexpectedly at his home on Jan. 7, 2012. He was the husband of Eleanor M. (Rifenburgh) Waldron. Richard was born July 21, 1944, in North Canaan, son of the late Harriet (Stalker) and Edward Waldron.Richard worked as a cook in the kitchens of the Salisbury School, as well as at The Hotchkiss School and Indian Mountain School, both in Lakeville. He served in the U.S. Navy for eight years during the Vietnam conflict. Richard was baptized into the Congregational faith, and enjoyed hunting, building homes and cars. He was also an avid collector. Richard was a proud member of the American Legion Post 178 in Millerton.In addition to his wife, Richard is survived by his children, Roland Orth and his companion, Denise, of Torrington, Mark Orth and his companion, Jenn, of Cornwall, Kimberly Edmonds and her husband, Hank, of Westdale, N.Y., and Elizabeth Waldron and her companion, Chad, of Sharon; his sisters, Shirley LaChance, Nancy Smith, Melodie Smith and Jill Waldron; his brothers, Eddie Waldron, Gary Waldron, Mark Waldron, Robin Waldron and Michael Waldron; a granddaughter, Ashley Edmonds; his two grandsons, Eric Waldron and Roland Orth III; and his great-grandson, Kayden Jay Travis Waldron. Richard was predeceased by his brother, David Waldron; and his sister, Sharon Parsons. A celebration of Richard’s life will be held Friday, Jan. 13, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Newkirk-Palmer Funeral Home in North Canaan. At the conclusion of the celebration all are invited to remain for the presentation of the military honors.
