Columbia County Sheriff’s Report
The following information was provided by the police agencies. All suspects are considered innocent until found guilty in a court of law.
Thursday, Dec. 8, at 1:45 a.m., Columbia County Deputy Sheriffs Ian Boehme and Brendan Filli arrested 31-year-old Keith Clasen of Snyderville Road, Elizaville, on a charge of driving while ability impaired by alcohol. Clasen drove off the roadway on Snyderville Road and became stuck in a ditch. Following his arrest and processing, Clasen was released with tickets directing him to the Gallatin Town Justice Court on Dec. 21 to answer the charges.
Thursday, Dec. 8, at 10 p.m., Columbia County Deputy Sheriff Marcus Hickey arrested 19-year-old Aaron Howley of Creekside Road, Gallatin, on a charge of harassment second degree. Howley struck a 20-year-old male victim. Taken into custody without incident, Howley was released with an appearance ticket directing him to appear in the Gallatin Town Court on Dec. 21.
Friday, Dec. 9, at 7 p.m., a 17-year-old male from Ark Street, Philmont, was taken into custody by the Copake Police Department on an arrest warrant from the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office and turned over to Deputy Sheriffs Toby VanAlstyne and Jeffrey Hofstetter. The warrant was for a charge of assault third degree relating to an assault that had occurred at the Taconic Hills School Friday, Dec. 2. Arraigned by Copake Town Justice John Spencer, the defendant was released on his own recognizance and directed to return to the Copake Town Court on Dec. 19.

Wednesday, Dec. 14, at 9:52 a.m., Columbia County Deputy Sheriff David Rose arrested 27-year-old Matthew Salsberry of Park Street, Millerton, following a traffic stop on state Route 23 in the town of Hillsdale. Salsberry was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, speed in zone and driving while using a mobile phone. He will answer the charges in the Hillsdale Town Court Wednesday, Jan. 18, at 6 p.m.
Saturday, Dec. 17, at 12:13 a.m., Columbia County Deputy Sheriffs Brendan Filli and Ian Boehme arrested 39-year-old Christopher Geroux of Pumpkin Hollow Road in Taghkanic following a traffic stop on Route 23 in the town of Hillsdale. Geroux was determined to be operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and was subsequently taken into custody and charged with two Class E felony charges: driving while intoxicated and aggravated driving while intoxicated. He was also charged with failure to keep right, uninspected motor vehicle and failure to notify Department of Motor Vehicles of a change in address.
Arraigned in the Hillsdale Town Court by Town Justice Russ Immarigeon, Geroux was released on $200 cash bail and ordered to return to town court Wednesday, Jan. 18, at 6 p.m.
Monday, Dec. 19, at 8 p.m., Columbia County Deputy Sheriff Cindy Madison took custody of 30-year-old Jaime MacArthur of Rothvoss Road in Ancram, from Copake Police Officer Richard Michaels. MacArthur was arrested by the Copake Police Department on an arrest warrant issued Nov. 8 by Copake Town Justice John Spencer on a charge of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle 3rd degree. She was also charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle 3rd degree.
Arraigned in Copake Court, MacArthur was released on her own recognizance and directed to return to town court Monday, Jan. 23.
