A bright welcome to Christmas
KENT — Vehicles ranging in size from powered utility carts to fire ladder trucks, decorated with lights and other holiday symbols, rolled through town for the annual Parade of Lights on Saturday evening, Dec. 17.
Fire department vehicles from many towns in Connecticut and nearby New York state participated in the holiday procession. What looked like several hundred people of all ages, from babies in parents’ arms to senior citizens, came to the grounds of the Kent Volunteer Fire Department fire station for a close-up look at the participants.
The parade left the fire station, proceeded north on Route 7 to the town Green and returned to the fire station, where refreshments were served.
People lined both sides of Route 7 to watch the parade — and to hear the sirens and horns blown by several dozen firetrucks and other vehicles.
