Congregational Church holds Handel singalong

WINSTED — The Second Congregational Church of Winsted, located on North Main Street, held a singalong of Handel’s “Messiah” on Saturday, Dec. 10. More than 50 residents took part in singing the 22 portions of the first section of the oratorio composed by George Frideric Handel in 1741. Willard Minton, who directed the singalong, said Handel was one of the all time greats. “Years ago, there was a singalong of ‘Messiah’ that was held in town, but it stopped for a number of years,” Minton said. “The church decided to revive the event.”
