NORTH CANAAN — Charles E. Trahan, 53, of Fairlawn Drive in Torrington, died Nov. 26, 2011. He was the husband of Cheryl (DiNatale) Trahan.Mr. Trahan was born Sept. 15, 1958, in Sharon, the son of Hazel (Bushey) and R. Napoleon Trahan of North Canaan. He served his country with the United States Army Reserve. Among the awards and decorations he received upon his honorable discharge were the Army Commendation Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He was employed by the Covidien Corporation as an engineer. He was a member of the Torrington Elks Lodge 372 and was a Boy Scout leader. A loving husband, father and son, he enjoyed cooking, spending time with his family and camping.In addition to his wife, Cheryl, and his parents, Napoleon and Hazel, he is survived by a son, Joseph Trahan of Torrington; a daughter, Cassandra Trahan of Torrington; a brother, Robert Trahan of Newport Beach, Va., and his wife, Jean; four sisters, Cora Waldron of Sidney, N.Y., and her husband, Edward, Beatrice Trotta of Salisbury and her husband, Cricket, Kathy Trahan of Salisbury and Tina White of Fairfield, Conn., and her husband, Donald; as well as several nieces and nephews.Calling hours will be held on Thursday, Dec. 1, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Cook Funeral Home in Torrington. Military final honors will be presented at the conclusion of calling hours. Burial will be private. A memorial Mass will be held at St. Joseph’s Church in North Canaan on Friday, Dec. 2, at 11 a.m.In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that memorial contributions be made to the American Diabetes Association, 306 Industrial Park Road, Suite 105, Middletown, CT 06457 or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
