MILLERTON — Dorothy June Horton, 72, a 20-year resident of Millerton and formerly of Wassaic, died Nov. 29, 2011, at her home. Mrs. Horton was a food service attendant at the Harlem Valley Psychiatric Center in Wingdale for 25 years before retiring in 1984. Born Oct. 3, 1939, in Poughkeepsie, she was the daughter of the late Edith (Wilbur) and Clayton Brizzie Sr.On Jan. 8, 1956, in Pine Plains, she married Benjamin D. Horton Sr. She was a member of the New York State Civil Service Employees Association.In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, John Horton and his wife, Vicki, of Amenia and Benjamin D. Horton Jr. and his wife, Frances, of Dover Plains; two daughters, Linda Gagnon and her husband, William, of Saugerties and Lisa Buskirk and her husband, Mark Gottenberg, of Saugerties; a brother, Clayton Brizzie Jr. of North Carolina; two sisters, Kathleen Sprossel of North Carolina and Sharon Britton of Red Oaks Mills, N.Y.; 10 grandchildren, Benjamin Horton III, James Horton, Jessica Wormell, Michelle Monty, William GagnonJr., Colleen Hampel, Jennifer Lemoine, Mary Louise Benjamin, Roger Liberto and Nicolas Horton; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a son, Francis Horton; a grandson, Austin Horton; a brother, George Brizzie; and three sisters, Rosie and Shirley Miles and Flossie Horton.Calling hours will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 1, at the Hufcut Funeral Home in Dover Plains. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will take place at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 3, at Amenia Island Cemetery.
