Webutuck’s banquet for season successes

WEBUTUCK — Webutuck High School held its tri-seasonal sports banquet on Monday, Nov. 14, to honor all of the students who participated on a school sports team during the fall season.After enjoying a meal with their fellow teammates and families, all athletes present at the event were acknowledged and given a certificate. Some athletes were singled out with trophies for titles like MVP.The coaches of each team told stories about the highlights of the season and congratulated the athletes for their successes — and there were a lot of congratulations in order.The varsity field hockey team won the Section 9 Class C championship after the team beat both Pine Plains and Onteora.The varsity cross-country team sent two athletes to the state finals.The boys varsity soccer team made it to the semifinals and the girls varsity soccer team made it to the quarterfinals.The coaches also honored the seniors on the team who will be graduating this year. The girls varsity team alone had 12 seniors. Coach Mark Moren gave a speech about each one of his senior athletes.
