Rotary welcomes new members
MILLBROOK — Millbrook Rotary inducted five new members at a special evening meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 15, bringing the number of Millbrook Rotarians to 37. Current Rotary District Governor Tansukh Dorawala put Rotary pins on the new members — Brian Fried, John Genn, Robert Gunther, Sean Jones and Juan Rodriguez. In the tradition of Rotary, the new members represent diverse professions in the community. Fried is a school administrator with the Millbrook schools; Genn is trust officer at the Bank of Millbrook; Gunther is retired and transferring from the Salisbury Rotary; Jones is the general manager of Verizon Wireless in Salt Point and a partner in Superior Wireless; and Rodriguez is the owner of Premier Painting in Millbrook.Service organizations in the United States have struggled for members in recent years due to changes in employment and lifestyles. Despite this, Rotary District 7210 with about 2,000 members in 67 clubs has maintained recent levels and even grown slightly — its current goal is 2,012 members in 2012. Dorawala announced recently that he would personally appear and induct new members at any club that gained at least five new members. Millbrook Rotary met the criteria and Dorawala made good on his pledge.
