Town Board clarifies capital project funds

AMENIA — During a special budget meeting held on Thursday, Oct. 27, the Town Board met to discuss future capital projects.Town Supervisor Wayne Euvrard explained in an interview that the town is not earmarking funds in the 2012 budget for capital projects like a new Highway Department building. Instead, he said, the board will wait until December of this year to see if there is any money left over in the current budget. Most of the leftover money would come from bills that were lower than expected or bills not received by the town in this fiscal year.If there is any money left over, that money can be moved into a capital project fund designated for specific projects or it can be put back into the general fund. The proposed 2012 Amenia Town Budget will be discussed during a public hearing on Thursday, Nov. 10, at 7 p.m. at the Amenia Town Hall.
