Frances (Farley) Kipp
AMENIA — Frances (Farley) Kipp, 87, a longtime resident of Amenia, died Sept. 24, 2011, at Sharon Hospital. She was born Sept. 17, 1924, in Hudson Falls, N.Y., the daughter of the late Ella May (Hill) and Fred A. C. Farley. Mrs. Kipp was a vocational rehabilitation assistant at the Wassaic Developmental Center in Wassaic for 25 years before retiring in 1985. She married Ward Bynon Kipp Jr. on Sept. 24, 1944, in Amenia. He died Jan. 31, 2011. Mrs. Kipp and her husband, owned and operated the Amenia Drive-In Theatre from 1965 to 1985.For the past 65 years, she was a member of the Amenia Grange No. 698. She was also a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Amenia.Mrs. Kipp is survived by a daughter, Karen Guerra and her husband, Gerardo “Gerry,” of Wolcott, Conn.; two grandchildren, Mischael and Eric Guerra; four great-grandsons, Kevin, Aiden, Ryan and Alex Guerra; and a niece, Katherine Card Thomas. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a sister, Florence Hotaling.Funeral services were held Sept. 28 at the Hufcut Funeral Home in Dover Plains.
