Coleman bests Pine Plains

PINE PLAINS — The Stissing Mountain High School varsity girls soccer team played its second game of the season on Wednesday, Sept. 14, on their home field against Coleman.Freshman Jaimee Kennett made Pine Plains’ only goal at the end of the first half, bringing the score to 2 -1.“It was a huge goal for us and gave us momentum going into the second half, but we just couldn’t connect any more shots,” said coach Kelly Hicks.The final score of the game was 4-1, with Coleman coming out ahead.“They put a lot of effort into it,” said Hicks of the Pine Plains players. “Overall, the defense as a unit worked really well together.”“I think we have the potential to beat them next time,” she said, citing all of the shots on goal that her team made.Pine Plains goalie Alex Delfino made 10 saves during the game.One of the goals made by Coleman was off a penalty shot.
