9/11 We remembered
Though many churches and other organizations held memorial services on Sunday, the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks, the most extensive was organized by the Knights of Columbus and held at St. Joseph’s Church in North Canaan.
The church doors were open for 24 hours that day for anyone who wanted to share prayers in memory of those who lost their lives. A massive American flag hung from the ladder of a North Canaan firetruck. Members of local fire companies held a commemorative service at mid-day, and members of Litchfield’s First Artillery unit came out and fired an antique cannon to mark the times of significant events from Sept. 11, 2001.
