The 2019 legislative session

The Democrats enjoy a substantial majority in the state House (90-59). The state Senate Democratic majority is 20-13. There are five special elections on Feb. 26 to replace three senators and two representatives who resigned to take positions in the administration of Gov. Ned Lamont (D).

The General Assembly has a long session in odd-numbered years such as 2019 and a shorter session in even numbered years. This year’s session goes from January to June.
