Will charging stations for electric cars drive economic activity?

PINE PLAINS — This fall, the town of Pine Plains has attracted a new population of motorists passing through, thanks to a charging station for electric cars that’s been installed behind the Bank of Millbrook, at 2971 Church St. (Route 199).

In light of the growing popularity of electric vehicles, town Supervisor Darrah Cloud watched as several towns in the surrounding area, such as Ancram and Hillsdale, installed charging stations to attract visiting motorists.
