SALISBURY — After several weeks of negotiations an offer for the old firehouse at 9 Sharon Road was made public by First Selectman Curtis Rand on Monday, July 25.The offer is from Albert and Tim Mucka of Goshen, for $400,000. The brothers are the owners of the New West Main restaurant in Lakeville. The letter accompanying their offer states that the intended use of the old firehouse “is as an investment to be used in accordance with current zoning regulations.”It also says that the Muckas plan to deed the other building on the property, the small white building at 9A Sharon Road, back to the town, specified for affordable housing.Rand also released a July 14 letter from Christopher Coon of Sharon expressing an interest in buying the old firehouse “for classic and antique automobile storage with a long-range plan of turning it into an antique and classic automobile museum.”“If your negotiations should end up without a sale or if you decide to reopen the bidding process, please let me know.”The Board of Selectmen held a special meeting Wednesday, July 27, to discuss the Mucka offer.The meeting was held after The Lakeville Journal went to press.
