Eric E. Haight

CLINTON CORNERS — Eric E. Haight, 74, passed away June 13, 2011, at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie after a short illness.He was born in Poughkeepsie on March 29, 1937, the son of the late Thelma (Coffin) and Paul Haight.He was a member of the Ralph T. Waterman Bird Club, Sharon Audubon and the Stanford Historical Society. He also was a former member of Stanford Fire Company. He enjoyed hiking, walking the Rail Trail and bird watching and was an avid Red Sox fan. Mr. Haight coached the Stanford Twins Little League team. Most of all he was a kind and loving man, who put everyone else first. He worked for IBM as a technician in East Fishkill, N.Y. After retirement he and his brother had a lawn mowing service for several years in Stanfordville.Survivors include a loving companion, Diane Eaton of Clinton Corners; a son, Matthew Haight and his companion, Trish Taylor, of Sherman Oaks, Calif.; a brother-in-law, Oliver Orton; four nephews, Christopher, Thomas, Irving Paul Haight Jr., and Ryan; and two nieces, Catherine and Allison.He was predeceased by a brother, Irving P. Haight Sr. A memorial service was held June 18 at the United Church of Christ, the Rev. Rhoda Starzyk officiating.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Stanford Fire Co., Stanfordville, NY 12581. Magic Fluke Ukulele Shop and True Wheels Bicycle Shop are not only under the same roof in a beautiful solar powered building on Route 7 in Sheffield, but they are also both run by the Webb family, telling a tale of familial passion, innovation and a steadfast commitment to sustainability.

In the late ‘90s, Dale Webb was working in engineering and product design at a corporate job. “I took up instrument manufacturing as a fun challenge,” said Dale. After an exhibit at The National Association of Music Merchants in Anaheim, California, in 1999, The Magic Fluke company was born. “We were casting finger boards and gluing these things together in our basement in New Hartford and it just took off,” Dale explained. “It was really a wild ride, it kind of had a life of its own.”

Blues legend Robert Cray will be bringing his stinging, funky guitar and soulful singing to Infinity Hall Norfolk on Friday, March 29.

A five-time Grammy winner, Cray has been inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame and earned The Americana Music Awards Lifetime Achievement for Performance. He has played with blues and rock icons including Albert Collins, Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker, The Rolling Stones, Tina Turner, Eric Clapton and many more.
