Tour the new/old Canaan Union Station on July 15

NORTH CANAAN — Renovations to the Union Station train depot in North Canaan are nearly complete. The selectmen announced at their meeting on Monday, July 3, that the public is invited for a grand tour of the building on Saturday, July 15, between noon and 2 p.m. as part of this year’s Railroad Days festivities (a full schedule of Railroad Days events can be found in this week’s Compass arts and entertainment).

A silent auction will include an opportunity for visitors to purchase “pavers” for the property, as a fundraiser to help pay for the ongoing operation of the depot once it’s complete.

First Selectman Douglas Humes reported that the stairs have arrived at the site, and that the roof shingling is almost complete.
