Firetruck, building purchase on agenda at town meeting Nov. 9
NORTH CANAAN — A special town meeting will be held Tuesday, Nov. 9, at 7 p.m. at Town Hall.
Qualified voters will be asked to consider two expenditures.
A $171,216 balance is in an account accumulating funds that are set aside each year for new firetrucks for the Canaan Fire Company. The money is needed to help pay the balance on a pumper truck due to be delivered later this month.
Action will also be taken on a plan to purchase the Catherine Roraback Law Office building from the Canaan Foundation.
The foundation inherited the Main Street building but found keeping it would detract from its ability to award grants to local groups. The building would become home to the town historian, who could make historical records easily accessible to the public.
