Superintendent Award : NICHOLAS CAMARDI
NORTH CANAAN — Nicholas Camardi is a quietly respectful student at North Canaan Elementary School. That plus his good grades, motivation and extracurricular activities make him a role model for his peers —and the school’s 2010 Superintendent Award winner.
When asked why he felt he earned the award, Nicholas said it was probably because he does well in school. When asked why he believes he is considered a role model, he shrugged at first, then decided it has to do with being respectful to teachers and others.
Nicholas has earned a place on the high honor roll every term since sixth grade. He is described in a press release from the school district as highly motivated, intellectually curious and an exceptionally good math student. He plays trumpet in the school band, is on the school’s soccer, basketball and baseball teams, is an avid golfer and follows all sports.
He enjoys swimming, bicycling and shooting hoops and time spent with family, whether it’s travel or a game night at home.
Is there anything he would never do? It seemed a fair question, since he does so much. It didn’t take him long to answer: skydiving. He likes challenging pursuits, but prefers keeping his feet on the ground.
