Two candidates for interim principal spot
FALLS VILLAGE — The search for a new interim principal at Housatonic Valley Regional High School has been narrowed to two candidates.
During the Oct. 4 regular meeting of the Region One Board of Education (held in the chilly school library at the high school), interim Assistant Principal David Bayersdorfer told the board that the two candidates — both men — had toured the building in the previous few days.
Bayersdorfer said the candidates were impressed by the 1939 part of the school and with the fireplace in the principal’s office.
“We may have to budget for some wood,†he said, to general laughter.
The board, working to a fast schedule, will set up further interviews, probably later this week.
Bayersdorfer, who stepped into the breach as interim assistant principal following the August resignations of Principal Gretchen Foster and Assistant Principal Mary Ann Buchanan, was unfailingly positive about the first few weeks of school. “We’re moving right along.â€
Board Chairman Judge Manning asked, “Do you have any influence on the room temperature?â€
