Evelyn Alice (Johnson) Fowlkes
LAKEVILLE â€” Evelyn Alice (Johnson) Fowlkes, 84, died Sept. 26, 2010, following a lengthy illness.
Evelyn was born Dec. 27, 1925. She was one of 11 children of Evelyn and Harold Johnson of Sheffield, Mass.
She was a proud descendant of the Narragansett/Nipmuc tribe.
Evelyn married Raymond L. Fowlkes on Nov. 16, 1946. They resided in Lakeville and raised two children, Raymond A. Fowlkes and Donald E. Fowlkes.
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend, she will be missed dearly by all who were fortunate to have spent time with her.
In addition to her husband of 63 years and her two sons, Evelyn is survived by her sisters, Catherine (Johnson) Allen, Jenny (Johnson) James and Hattie Johnson; six grandchildren, Tonia (Fowlkes) Tyler, Siena (Fowlkes) Dudley, Anthony Fowlkes, Jason Fowlkes, Jeffrey Fowlkes and Lauren Fowlkes; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her siblings, Elmer Johnson, Louise Johnson, Mable Johnson, Harold Johnson Jr., Minnie (Johnson) Spencer, William Johnson and James Johnson; and a great- grandson, Chad Adgers Jr.
Arrangements are under the care of the Birches-Roy Funeral Home in Great Barrington. There are no calling hours. A private memorial service will be held Oct. 2.
