Two Kent men are arrested in Woodbury home invasion case

KENT — Connecticut State Police reported this week that five Tri-state residents, including two from Kent, were arrested last week following a home invasion in Woodbury, Conn., on Aug. 31.

The State Police at Troop L in Litchfield received a call at 6:30 p.m. that day “regarding a possible fight at an apartment at 302 Turtle Road,” in Woodbury, according to a Department of Public Safety press release.

When personnel from Troop L arrived, resident Kenneth Munson, 23, told them he had been assaulted by three males who had kicked in the apartment door, armed with a knife. He also reported that they “choked him out” and took “various items” from his apartment.

Munson said the three men then left, but returned a few moments later to retrieve their car keys,which had fallen out of a pocket during the struggle.  

Police were told that the men drove off in a vehicle with a Connecticut registration number 422YCV.

State police checked the number and found it was registered to William Lester, 18, of 262 Schaghticoke Road in Kent.

Upon arriving at the Schaghticoke Reservation in Kent, troopers reported that they “found the suspect vehicle along with several people gathered around it in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.”

During the investigation, police said they learned that Munson had a large quantity (approximately 3 pounds) of marijuana, which had been taken during the home invasion.

Munson was subsequently arrested for possession of more than 4 ounces of marijuana and possession with intent to sell. He was held on a $150,000 cash or surety bond and was expected to appear in court in Waterbury on Sept. 1.

Additional arrests are expected in the case.

Five arrests were made at the scene: Michael Rost, 18, of 262 Schaghticoke Road in Kent, was charged with possession of less than 4 ounces of marijuana and held on a $2,500 cash or surety bond. He was expected to appear at Bantam Court on Sept. 15.

Kenneth Ciralli, 19, of Crestwood Road in Wingdale, N.Y., was charged with violation possession of less than 4 ounces of marijuana and held on a $2,500 cash or surety bond. He is to appear at Bantam Court on Oct. 6.

Dwayne Robbins, 19, of Dwy Lane in Wingdale was charged with possession of less than 4 ounces of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was held on a $2,500 cash or surety bond and is expected to appear Sept. 15 at Bantam Court.

Louis Smith, 23, of 28 Pickering Lane in Wingdale was charged with conspiracy, robbery in the first degree, home invasion in the first degree, burglary in the first degree, strangulation in the second degree,criminal mischief in the third degree,possession of more than 4 ounces of marijuana and possession with intent to sell. Smith was held on a $750,000 cash or surety bond and is expected to appear Sept. 15 in Waterbury.

Lester was charged with conspiracy, robbery in the first degree, home invasion, burglary in the first degree, strangulation in the second degree, criminal mischief in the third degree, possession of more than 4 ounces of marijuana and possession with intent to sell. He was held on a $750,000 cash or surety bond and and is expected to appear Sept. 15 in Waterbury.
