To welcome the spring
CORNWALL — Stepping into Lady Audrey’s was a seasonal assault on all the senses, an invigorating experience that matched the beautiful spring weather outside the West Cornwall gallery.
Pizza and champagne were served, bagpiper John Marcus (husband of exhibitor Claire Marcus) surprised with entertainment and a steady stream of visitors attended a reception for “Spring Fever†on April 2.
The juried show did not disappoint in either representing the theme, or in the quality and variety of work, from photographs to oils, quilting and woodworking, presented by 13 artists.
Best in Show, Merrill French, “Early Spring Evening in Nantucket,†oil on linen
Second place, Carol Gleason, “Crocus,†colored pencils
Third place, Susan Cane, “Whirlwind of Blossoms,†pieced quilt
Awards of merit went to Susannah Swanson, “Seasons Quadrille,†oils on canvas; Mary Anne Carley, “Spring,†watercolor; Carl Schumann, “Jose Reyes 2 Hour Came,†digital photograph.
Judges were sculptor Christopher Stone of Ibixa, Spain, and David Newton of Silvermine Guild in New Canaan.
