Kaelan Paton's body found June 23
CORNWALL — The body of Kaelan Paton was found in the Housatonic River on the morning of Tuesday, June 23. State police said that two people spotted the body floating on the water, near the Cornwall/Salisbury border. They called 911 shortly after 7 a.m.
Local emergency volunteers and the state police responded, and state police divers pulled the body from the water. Shortly after noon that day, it was identified as Kaelan’s body. Kaelan, 16, was the son of Catherine (Palmer) and David Paton.
The river has been running especially high and fast all week. Searchers had said that the body was unlikely to be found before the levels began to drop. They did so on Tuesday morning, after being at record highs since the weekend.
The state police are planning to do a postmortem on the body on June 24. Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced. For information, visit The Lakeville Journal’s Web site at tcextra.com.
