Kids' Day at Audubon ushers in autumn

SHARON — About 350 parents and children took part in Sunday’s 13th annual Kids’ Day at Sharon Audubon. The event was held on the grounds of the Audubon Center and included many activities for young children, including an egg roll, arts and crafts, a hay ride and a costume contest.

The event also included animal education: a tour of the Audubon building, a “Birds of Prey show and a live petting zoo with chickens, reptiles and small furry mammals.

The annual event welcomes autumn, and ushers in the Halloween season. Many children came dressed up in costumes and enjoyed fall traditions such as creeping through a hay bale maze.

Some are framed, some lie loose on the dining table.

Many of them have museum cards, explaining where those samplers came from and why they are important.
