Webutuck soccer kicks off year strong

WEBUTUCK — School’s back, and so is sports season for Webutuck students.

Last Tuesday, the boys varsity soccer team played its first home game against Ellenville and won, 5 to 2.

"The boys cooked," Athletic Director Mike Riddle said. "They played as a team and they played some real home team soccer. They made a lot of nice passes."

On Thursday, the team pulverized Pine Plains, 7 to 0.

"Mike Schnider and Steven Hutchinson all had it in first gear, while Pat McCaffrey had a hat trick," Riddle said. "They were assisted by Matt Matteo, and Zach Spencer was the winning goalie."

Also this week, the girls varsity volleyball team played in Ellenville, where they lost 3 to 0. The girls soccer team also played in Ellenville on Tuesday, where both teams ended the game in a tie, 0 to 0.
